Pledge of Allegiance.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE PROM……ALL STUDENTS THAT ARE PLANNING ON BRINGING A DATE TO THE PROM…..THEY  MUST HAVE THEIR DATE BRING THEIR PHOTO I.D. TO THE THE PROM SATURDAY NIGHT.

The 2008 “Diversity” literary magazine is now available for sale. The cost of the magazine is $3.00. Please see Mrs. Layton or Jenna Jones to get your copy today

Any student interested in cheerleading next week, may want to stay after school on Wednesday the 14th for a clinic with the varsity cheerleaders.  This is not mandatory, but will help you with tryouts.

Listen us…….this is important today - The Media Center will be closed this morning due to Chesapeake College placement testing during periods 1 & 2.  Teachers, computers will not be available to send students down to the Media Center. 

 

SENIORS - The Dorchester Retired Educators Scholarship Deadline is today - Friday, May 9th, by 8:00 a.m.  If you haven’t applied, please do so BEFORE the deadline.

 

The following Scholarships are now available in the guidance office:

 

Mildred Beverly Scholarship.  Deadline is May 16th, @ 8:00 a.m.

 

The Drew Weaver Scholarship.  Deadline is May 19th @ 8:00 a.m.  Applications received after the deadline WILL NOT BE PROCESSED!!! 

 

 

 

H.S.A. testing will start May 19.  Students are asked to report to their test site PROMPTLY.  Please check with Mr. Camper if you don’t know if you need to take it. 

 

Don’t be left behind. There are only 3 more traveling spaces for the Spain and Italy Trip. If you are interested, please see either Mrs. Gomes or Mrs. Irizarry as soon as possible.

From the Media Center….

  SENIORS…….ALL BOOKS ARE DUE THURSDAY, MAY 15TH IN THE MEDIA CENTER.  PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO RETURN YOUR LIBRARY BOOKS SO YOU CAN WALK ACROSS THE STAGE AND GET YOUR DIPLOMA. 

Students and teachers, if you have any books checked out that you are finished reading, please return them as soon as possible. 

Today is the last day to check out books from the Media Center.  After today, students will no longer be permitted to check out books.  We must now concentrate on getting them all returned.

The Media Center will remain open until May 28th.  After May 28th, there will be no lunch passes handed out and classes and students will not be permitted to use the Media Center during the last two weeks of the school year.

 

Do you want to help make a difference? Do you have some ideas about how to make the school a better place? Don’t just complain, DO SOMETHING! Run for Student Council Office or for the Student Board Representative! Positions available for the Student Council include President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Parliamentarian. If you are interested or you have any questions, please see Ms. Chaloux. Applications can be picked up from her and are due before Wednesday, May 14.

 

May 21st is the last day to buy a 2008 yearbook.  There is a link on the CSD homepage

Cheerleader tryouts for next school year will be held on Saturday May 17th, from 9am until 2pm.  You must pick up the Parent Tryout Permission form from the main office and bring it to tryouts signed.  You cannot tryout without this form being signed by a parent.  Tryout information is included with the form.

 

 

 

Prom tickets will on sale during all 3 lunches…..they are $40.00.  Only with students who have met all obligations are permitted to buy tickets.

 

Students who are interested in joining our Seek and Find group, we are meeting every Friday in the Media Center at 7:30 a.m..  Everyone is welcome to come and share fellowship.

 

 

Today’s  lunch is:   tuna salad boat with pasta salad, egg wedges, pickles & crackers or burrito, stewed tomatoes, fresh fruit, and milk.

There is a brand new member of the Viking Girls’ softball  team……the newest member, Koryn Aaliyah Otey, weighing in at 8 lbs. 15 ounces  and 21 inches long.  Congratulations to softball coach, Mrs. Otey and her husband and football coach, Mr. Otey – Koryn was born at 1:47 a.m..  Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Otey!
